I agree but I think you did it just a bit too much.

I agree with JD. Normal bokeh from taking a photo of a subject with a wide open aperture against a distant background will show not so much a blurred background, but more of a "beady" or "bulbed" blurred look, and not so smooth that you can't make out the background. If you used gaussian blur, I would have used maybe half the setting.
