If you were born before 1986 - read on

played with fireworks (the real ones)

we made our own fireworks! and nitrogen tri-iodide that explodes when in solid form! high powered catapults, throwing arrows (a yard of dowelling with a nail in the end, cardboard flights in the other, launched with a length of string like a javelin, lethal!!), rope swings over deep rivers when you can't swim!! trouble is my kids know what I got up to and wonder why I place restrictions on them!

This is one for the UK. Does anyone remember cadbury's bringing out soya mince in tins that tasted like minced beef? Or Wrigleys chewing gum in cardboard packets?

I refuse to comment on what I scored. Nope. No way.

seems i have a foot in the coffin

Ok seriously. I'm only 25.

I thought I was just starting to grow up, not get old.

Someone tell me what "butch wax" is, so I can say whether or not I remember it.

Cause, you know, it sounds kinda nasty.

I was born in '85, I can relate to most of the "your too young" things, and many of the things from Darfions list.
I still don't have a cell phone, anyone who says you need one is delusional.

Right. I had to get up in the morning at ten o'clock at night, half an hour before I went to bed, eat a lump of cold poison, work twenty-nine hours a day down mill, and pay mill owner for permission to come to work, and when we got home, our Dad would kill us, and dance about on our graves singing "Hallelujah."

But you try and tell the young people today that... and they won't believe ya'.
You had a job? You lucky, lucky bastard.

My sister & I used to ride in the boot of my dads estate car (station wagon?) all the time! We thought it was great when he used to throw the car round corners or jump on the brakes! Best rollercoaster ever!

Hmmm Black Jacks & fruit salad chews! I really miss them!:(

Talk about station wagons - ours did not have a reverse so we had to park going frontwards only. That was always a challenge! My kids would hide in the floor when I took them to school. :D

I still have my old ration card somewhere....

So have I and I remember using it to buy sweets (candy) but remember the UK was one of the last countries to end rationing after WW2, 1953 if I remember correctly.

I think you can still get them - or you could a few years ago.
I remember finding a little old sweet shop that still sold loose and they had Cherry Lips and Squirrel Gums.
And loose Sherbet....
