I'm vacationing in Fort Lauderdale this week. On my morning walk along the river to my favorite coffee shop, I happened upon this guy who had just come running out of some nearby bushes. He was a chasing a female and hoping to impress her. I saw the female, but she was a bit more elusive and I couldn't get any good angles of her.

BTW, I wanted to point out that I did actually shoot this particular shot in "Program" mode. This is a mode I almost never use. Generally I approach any shot using either Tv, Av, or M -- but on this occasion the clouds were popping in and out, these things tend to run quickly then pause, we were going in and out of shadow. I knew the settings could be changing rapidly. SO... I opted to put the camera in P and see how it'd handle the situation. This time it worked out in my favor.

The camera picked f/5.6 -- which is probably a relatively "safe" aperture that I might have chosen myself (that or f/8 to ensure enough DoF for him.)

Nice. looks like he posed for you

Nice shot ....I did not realize that the wild ones are so colorful....I would crop a little tighter

I was thinking the same thing. This actually is cropped in a fair bit from the original and after posting it, I had cropped one a little tighter yet (but didn't upload that one.)

I don't know; normally, I'm all for cropping in pretty tight on something like this, but in this instance, I really like the photo as it is. Because of the way the iguana is looking back, and the repetitive pattern of the (dock? boardwalk?) wood, I really like this and think it gives a nice sense of how "out in the open" the little critter was.
A cropped version would likely be nice too, but with a focus just on the iguana. That, to me, would make it just another photo of an iguana. The version you posted is a bit different and I like that.
That's MY 1.75 cents' worth. :D
