I'm an idiot. -- Lens Hoods??

I used to put my lens cap on between shots which took a lot of time and meant I missed the occasional shot I now always use the hood instead especially in bright light for obv reasons. Most descent lenses come with a hood in my experience.

dumb question, but im new. Are all lense hoods reversable like this?

Just remember the hood isn't doing anything when reversed other then making it harder to operate the lens. But it's great for storage and remembering what hood goes with what lens, as you'll get the best performance out of a hood designed for the specific lens over a generic hood.

I had a lens hood in storage mode (backwards) on my first SLR for a year before I realized what it was. I just thought it was part of the lens. I know, I know. Not that I'd ever tell anyone that story. Oh crap.
