Im going to shoot RAW this week

After recently discovering that most of the plannet shoots RAW, and failing to convince anybody that this format is in fact pure evil much like the wheel and flush toilets, im going to shoot raw this week. Im off into the countryside to do some landscapes and to stop myself going insane. Maybe by the time i get back i will have converted to this evil format.

Just remember... shooting in RAW doesn't automatically mean the photos out of the camera will look better than JPEG. It simply means there is more potential.

Think of RAW as the unprinted negative and JPEG a finished print.

Actually, the RAW images will be lackluster compared to JPEG's since they will have zero post processing done to them.

It's a good idea. The only time I don't shoot RAW is when I am on an off-road trip. I'll often shoot JPEG in Program mode just to make things easier.

The potential for RAW is much greater than JPEG, as long as you can get over the fact that they look very dull until you edit them.

I generally shoot JPEG. However, if the situation warrants shooting RAW (eg, artistic shots), then I'll do it. For action/sports, it's better to stick with JPEG for maximum shooting speed. And for most casual photography, it's not worth shooting RAW because I can't be bothered with a lot of post-processing.

For me, JPEG looks pretty damn good most times.

Actually it is just nicely charred. It was cooked quite medium rare.

Oh! Then that steak must have been perfect except for the tiny part that almost looks like it got burned

back to the topic, I have recently started to shoot in RAW as well after realizing if I really want to improve my skills it's the only way to go
