I'm off to a camera club!!

After months and months of people telling me I should join a camera club I have given in! I hate myself already

I'm off to have 3 of my prints no doubt rubbished by some stuck up judge :lol:

anyway they will be voting on these 3

This is probably the worst shot but I was pushed for time and couldn't be bothered to edit another

So if nothing else should give my mate Ray a laugh as they will probably get the lowest scores in the clubs history :lol:

So if I'm suicidal later on you can blame FOTO-GRAFFIC

But you are gonna get some nice scores on the first 2 pics. Dont know about the 3rd one though. But thats probably because im not used to see pics like that from you. But its a cool pics though

Nice... the third shot isn't worst... the other two are just better :lol:

Especially the second, great as always.

Oh and I agree... you should put at least one otter shot in, so that the club are prepared already... otherwise they're going to get a shock later :lol:

Can I ask, is this club around Reading? I can't seem to find a decent one locally.

Well I'm back and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.
The 3rd shot got a 18 out of 20, which I have to say shocked me a bit as I could be bothered to print out another shot and just grabbed that one

The Kestrel shot also got 18 out of 20

The Fox shot was held back till the end by the judge with 3 other photos out of the 60 shots and got a 20 out of 20!!!!!!!!

so 56 out of 60 for the night!:mrgreen:

The branch in front of the face of the fox is a serious problem that should be cloned out. The second is the best shot but depth of field should have been better particularly on the right. The church is too obscured by trees in the last one and the boat is on the small side for a centre of interest.

You came here to fish for compliments, to soothe your taking the pics to that club ... secretly knowing they'd rate them high, too, eh? Hm? Hm?

But what is there in your photos that could possibly be rated low?
OK, you can nitpick here and there, but on the whole and overall???

Will you bring Ray and all your other friends over to the meet-up then? You could put together a carpool (and I am awfully embarrassed that their names/screennames have gone totally lost in my mind ... oh "Hoppy" is one, "fotograffic" of course - you mention him, he's Ray ... and there is a third, isn't there?)?

The branch is actually behind his face, but no cloning is going to be happening there that's not something I like to do with wildlife shots, I like to try and keep a wild feel to them if I can.

yep I agree the DoF could of been better on the Kestrel but hey it wasn't after that was taken it was gone, just flown off, bloody nerve of it! no thought about the photographer taking its photo, bloody wildlife :lol:

To be honest there was no way on earth that I would of got any shot if the aperture had been stopped down any further, it was bad enough shooting at 6.3 1/500 with a 600mm just under 3 meters away from it, a slower shutter speed would of given far too much camera shake for me. My monopod has help but there wasn't time to set up my Gitzo and Wimberley also it didn't take long for that bird to get spooked by the shutter noise, but for a grab shot as I was walking past the tree I'm kinda happy with it, which is rare for me!

To be honest I'd say the worst thing about the 3rd shot isn't the size of the barge or the church its the sky, there is far too much of it, almost a third of the photo and its a bit on the dull side

I guess the key question for me is "Did you enjoy the experience?". I went to one once and hated the place and the people it seemed to attract - never went back. Guess it depends on whether you view photography as a social or solitary occupation. I suspect I may be the latter - obvious question anticipated here very shortly.

I really enjoyed looking at all the photos taken by a lot of my customers, I just hope they never join here as they are stunning photographers! As I know a lot of them through my work it was good as I could have a laugh with them and it was better than sitting at home on the net :lol:
