In honor of the bird theme lately, my barred owl.

The only owl I've ever seen outside of captivity. Not for lack of searching!

Wow, where do you people find these guys?!? I've never seen one in the daylight! Very nice. Sharp with good light.

Barred owls hunt in daytime, one of the few that are more common to see, well for an owl, around where i live. I rarely see them as well, but i did get a close encounter with one hunting it the swamp once.

Thank you. It was found by accident. We were searching a spot where we were told there was an owl by another photographer. No luck. As we were leaving, I looked up and there he was. Right over top of the path. Total luck.
