in need of suggestions please ...

i purchased the AF-S DX Micro-NIKKOR 40mm f/2.8G earlier this afternoon for my Nikon D7000 and am having second thoughts ... i was up in the air between the one i purchased and the AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G . i was in search of an inexpensive , compact lens , and feel i should have purchased the 35mm instead ... i know the 35mm is approx. $ 80 cheaper , is more compact , and all of the focusing is internal ... i am not completely blown away with the macro capabilities and am looking for suggestions on if i should exchange for the 35mm or keep the 40mm ... thanks ...

little bit of everything really ... had never experimented with macro so i wanted to give it a shot , haven't been shooting long whatsoever . i normally walk and shoot what i see ( landscapes , stills ... ) have yet to narrow it down to specifics ...
