This evening at Blea Tarn - The mountains in the top left third are the same mountains that are in the top right third of the previous photo, but much closer (5 miles as crow flies) and side on. When I arrived at 9pm, the water was like glass. As the sun set a breeze disturbed it....

#3 is the strongest I think. Nice shot.

#2 is good, but I want either more of the pier on the right or none of it. The little bit that remains is a distraction IMO.
The laying of the mountains is striking, but my eye gets pulled back to that sliver of pier.

#1 is an interesting tree that suffers from a rather poor treatment. Harsh light and an uncomplimentary composition hurt this shot I think.
Did you try a mono version?

Agreed.

here is a mono version of the tree. Have cropped in a bit to get the tree less central. The light was indeed quite harsh, being mid afternoon

I must be improving my critical eye, because I was going to say exactly what Bender said - I love #2 and think it would be the best of the group if only it had more (or less) of the pier. #3 is wonderful.
