Hmm- seems a little less exposed here than on flickr. Maybe the battery on my laptop is just fading tho!

It looks the same other than size to me which could give the illusion of it being a bit darker on here, plus the page background will affect this as well.

That makes perfect sense – I think the white border makes it "seem" darker
