The picture is of an Hindu monk who worships Lord Shiva. God Shiva is the god of death and life. As per hindu mythology, the god himself lives a very simple life and are happy with the simplest offerings. Thy followers are also walk in their deities footsteps and accept life as it is.

Both of these seem over-processed to me, loosing the reality of the person.
The sitting one also seems much too tightly framed to me, making it seem like he is trapped in a box.
A bit more space would be useful I think.

Sounds like a pretty resonable God to me...

Thanks Traveler for reply. Cropped the image to avoid some distrusting objects in the side. It's true I could have used other technique to do the same. Thanks again for the lead.

he is a great subject and I envy you for having the opportunity :)

I also do think that the pictures are a bit over processed and I'm curious about the original crop of #2

Okay, You can have directly the picture processed from RAW.$IMG_2364.webp

well, you could easily clone out the people and leave more space around him.

people weren't that much of a problem for me, as I said they could easily be gone, but that door frame and the wall are bigger issue... do your best once again, but try to not over process.

anyway, its a shame that he wasn't in an ideal background and just waiting for you to take a picture of him :)

I think this person has so much visual impact that a more straightforward processing (and removing the unpleasant parts as you did) would be very very nice.
You are so lucky to be in such a visually rich part of the world, especially compared to the blandness of the US.

My son is just finishing a month in India and he is overwhelmed with the potential of photography there. I hope you continue to post about your surroundings.

Yeah, pretty reasonable. Until he starts his "tandava", i.e. the dance of destruction. He is the Zeus(in seniority) of the Hindu gods, and is responsible for the ultimate destruction of everything. The more you know! :-P

Very nice shot nuetan. :)

Dear Traveler,
If you really want to see color, then you should visit India. It is not gonna cost you much, but going to take a lot of time as India is a VAST country. You can have wonderful landscapes of the tallest mountain of Himalayas to the blue depth of Indian ocean. You can have the most populated desert in the world to some unique forest in the world. You will have a life time opportunity to see most diversely unified people. India is full of fauna and flora that you can ever imagine. Oh, and don't forget to bring a large amount of blank storage card with you as you will need it.
