So as the title states im here to introduce myself and ask some questions!

My name is Cameron Mills im the owner of a very small design company called Riptide Design, which you can check out here http://www.facebook.com/pages/Riptide-Design/123937437695029

I
've decided to make a little bit of an investment and start learning photography basics and eventually progressing past that. I feel like it would help my design alot and increase income to learn this since i mostly work with bands who are always in need of good promo pictures.

the style and quality i was hoping to one day be at was something along the lines of this photo King Conquer's Photos - Profile Pictures | Facebook
What kind of equipment would i need? Are there any good cameras that aren't film for under say 500 dollars out there? What are some reputable dealers as well as brands for lighting and other equipment im just not familiar with?

All these are questions i hope to answer on here! So if you have any suggestions or tips please reply!

Hope i wasn't a huge noob and i hope that my questions aren't bothersome!

For $500 with a lens, getting something new may be tricky, but getting something used shouldn't be a problem, and there are lots of used / good options out there.

Bands don't have money to pay for photos.

Consider to that there area a lot fewer bands, than there are individuals, families, and companies that want photos.

I did think about that KmH, and i'd be hoping to do stuff like that after i'd gotten to a point that i'd feel comfortable with my work. But the reason i mentioned bands specifically is because i know alot of bands and work for alot of bands more than anyone else. So im not looking to make a large amount of money photography wise because i work alot on logos, tee designs, and flyers already and that takes up a large portion of my time.
