Is it possible to construct a 10mm-800mm lens?

At one point Canon made something like 20 - 1000 mm, f/5.6 prime lenses. Canon 1000 mm f/5.6 - Bing Images
B&H had a used one that was priced at $99,000. IIRC the photo above was made on the roof at B&H.

Lets clarify that they made 20, 1000mm lenses not 20-1000mm lenses

FYI The last one that went on sale was offered for a measly $300,000.00, without the stand for it.

MFYI. For the newbies out there Velbon doesn't make a tripod that will support it.

I think it would be quite expensive, and really bulky and large, wouldn't be comfortable for daily usage!
Do you really need such focal length? In that case check for some Point and shoot bridge cameras, such Canon Powershot SX50HS, Nikon Coolpix L510, Canon Powershot SX40HS.

Apparently, the manufactureres are not going to venture it becasue they fear loss of profit which they are now earing from a variety of lenses they produce each year.

What source are you using for this information? You are making a factual statement and it would be interesting to see the where the facts originate.

10-800 would not be workable using todays technology. Some.day when they develop lenses that have elements that flex like the human eye, it may be possible, assuming people still take pictures
