Is this a good price for Tripod?

I've tried to compare it on ebay, but that's tough when you don't know the condition and factor in shipping. Someone I work with has a Bogen monfrotto 3046 tripod with 3063 head, in almost mint condition and they want $85.00. Should I go for it?

if it is in good shape, yes... that is a good deal. The legs alone were three-four hundred dollars new..... and that is pretty good head. I have seen similar setups selling for $200 or so on CL / Ebay. Depends on what you want to use it for also... not really a lightweight setup.

Yep manfroto are great as pointed out but like mentioned heavier,beefier setup. If needing light & compact I Just received my $ 52 Dolica GX600B200 Proline Tripod. Am impressed! Seems really solid,Parts,knobs all feel solid no creep. Seems pretty stable even with center post at max height.

As had to buy cheap and was skeptical. As firm believer you get what you pay for and this is outrageously low price for a good tripod. And cheap isn't the way to go for supporting Hundreds & Thousands of dollars worth of gear. So many offset that with buying used higher capable tripods which many times are available at 50% of the original price.

But this tripod exceeded my expectations by 2x-3x matching what I would guess the price to be. As seems more like a $125-$150 tripod than $52 I payed for it. Compact only 2.5lbs. with 15lbs load capacity which I'm highly doubting. But doing further testing over coming weeks looking for flimsy,flaky,creeping,etc.. But holds my D90 with MB-D80 with 55-200vr,Sigma 10-20 with ease. Feels stable and little wobble or sagging even with center column fully extended. Center column base hook for adding more weight to stabilize even more for windy conditions.

Still keeping a skeptical eye and always throughly test gear before recommending. This one has surprised me quite a bit and they have more beefier and even carbon versions for under $200.

Would have me passing. Maybe great for studio and car transportable but would want to have to lug it around walking,hiking sort of thing.
As head is a Video rig head and not Dslr bigger and bulkier so looking 10lbs.+ and would pass on it myself for my needs.

If I need a light and compact tripod... I would still buy either Manfrotto or Giottos (or Gitzo or RRS)! I would just get carbon fiber.

I am not going to trust a cheap no-name with an expensive body and lens. One of the biggest mistakes noobs make... is to cheap out on their tripod.

I just ended up buying this. Thanks for the feedback. I agree, it's a bit heavy, but I feel like I just got a great deal. This thing is mint and seems really solid. I'm really happy with it.
