Is this lens suitable for a Nikon D5100

Looking at this Tamron lens, does any one no if its suitable for the Nikon D5100. Also any reviews on it will be useful.

Yes, I believe that lens would work just fine.

I used to own a similar lens, the Tamron 17-50mm F2.8 (without VC) (Canon mount)...and it was a great lens for the price. It was my primary lens for professional use, for many years.

Usability in lower light situations and Image IQ took the next step up.

I had that very lens for a while and I found it very soft at f/4, f/2.8. The color balance was also different from my Nikor lenses which I didn't like.

I would chalk it up to bad copy or bad pairing with particular camera.
As the majority that have and use rave about it being sharp even at f2.8 and tack sharp at f4.
But being 3rd party more chances of sample variations.
