Issue in removing grains or creating fine image :(

Hello All,

I have taken a photograph of my new born baby from my mobile phone.
I want to make a photocopy of that image but I cannot properly remove the grains or noise to make a nice clean picture I tried with Photoshop CS2 ...though I am newbie user

Can you please help us to make it proper?

First off your not going to be able to remove the digital noise completely.

Dfine by Nik software is the best I have seen at reducing noise.

based on the fact that your image was taken on a mobile phone and from the looks of it in a not very well lit room (its looks brightened in post) you should be happy with the image you have i don't think it is going to get much better.

Light is right, you aren't going to be able to get all the noise out of it. Most DSLR's struggle with low light and noise, so don't expect a camera phone to be better. I do not know any of the CS version well enough to help you other than see


Also keep in mind that this is a jpeg and won't have as much detail as a raw file would have.

Photoshop is not a magical fill all photo tool. The noise reduction in photoshop is not the greatest.

You would be much better off taking another picture of the baby in better lighting conditions.

Thanks a lot guys. Really appreciate your help. One of my friend did below (which also look good) but I cannot get hold of him to remove the text "Demo" from this picture

Apparently the DEMO version of some downloadable software product did a much better than expected job with the noise. I'd contact him and find out what product he used. Unfortunately, it's not free. But then, neither is Photoshop.

Trolls are becoming more and more creative (for lack of a better word). Gotta give them that. I can't wait for the punchline, so we can all learn what miracle noise-reduction program the OP's friend used to clean the photo.

Just FYI.... comments re the editor of that pic which has demo text :

95% of the changes made using only ACR in CS6.
One final pass to remove the remainder of the noise using Neat Image from within PS (CS6).
Then down rez'ed in PS to 650 px hi for in-line display, and added watermark.

I was hoping for some real decent reply help in this thread but seems some of you mi-understood thought few of you are very kind and helpful.
I was also hoping to see if someone can help me to get the image similar or same to the one which has Demo Text in it.

Good luck trying to remove / improve. I would suggest improving lighting conditions as your camera phone can only do so much also depending on phone being used.

edit: I had a try. Used iPad app as not near computer for CS6.
