Issues with my 35mm **Need help**

Minolta XE-7

The shutter release button wont push down, Cameras power is on.

The film advance lever wont budge past a partial turn



Is there something I'm missing? I loaded some film, took ONE picture just fine...Then the shutter button stopped working....

Just a wild guess Is the camera taking a photo and is not done yet? Is the lens cap on and it is still trying to get an exposure?

Take out the battery and thus maybe resetting the camera. IS THE BATTERY DEAD OR NEARLY DEAD SO IT HAS NOT ENOUGH JUICE

try pushing the film rewind button and releasing the mechanism as revealed by being able to rewind

Take off the lens and see if the mirror is stuck in the up position. Be very careful not to touch or try to move the mirror but just look.

Shutter's jammed / stuck. Film advance lever is supposed to cock the shutter. Self-timer trips the shutter. Take it in to be repaired. Depending on the cost, it might just be worthwhile to get a new 35mm.

I assume the release is stuck down since the timer immediately starts counting/winding down. Is there by chance a feature where a person can twist the shutter release button so that when using bulb you don't have to hold it but can walk away? try rotating the shutter release button to allow it to pop back up. Or some other locking down method.

I assume you moved it off bulb with the batteries in. If not try it.

Thank you all for the help. It seems to kind of be working now. When I push the film advance lever back it doesn't seem to wanna work unless I kinda flick it then it'll spring back and then it will take a picture. Why is it doing that?
