I agree with Garbz. That is a beautiful shot. What lens did you use? Is that a 100% crop, or is that the original composition?

No, it's a fairly cropped version. DRebel at zoomed to 55mm, ISO 400, f11, 1/1250th. Kinda cheated and used Sports mode. Let the camera lock on to the bird as it was flying towards me and just followed it till it was overhead. Still, I took a bunch of pics and only a few came out. Gulls fly slow... but not that slow!

I love this picture however I think the picture would be so much more affective if the sky where not as dark.

Wow. That's all I can say.

I've dabbled just the tiniest bit in bird photography, and I know what a pain it is when they're in flight. The results can be spectacular though!! Bravo!
