Wow these are fantastic! What was your lens/lighting setup? Were you lucky or did this take several hours in the bush tracking your kill?

Really good, I especially love the ladybug. The perspective is different which makes it stand out from the others.

Try to concentrate on getting the eyes in focus. Take a ton of shots refocusing. If you were using auto-focus, try ti with manual and just move yourself back and forth.

I find the images to be more personal if you can get a look into their faces, but the top-down shots are great for showing markings.

Thanks for the comments guys, I was using a canon 30d with extension tubes ( the cheap ones) and a 18-55 lens and the light source was a canon 430 in a mini RC bracket, this was my first test I'm going to get some new extension tubes because the cheap ones you can't change the aperture and the depth of field becomes narrower so is really tricky to make the focus any how I'm on the learning curve right now any thanks for the composition tip!

Dude, you deserve an award for getting that great of pics with that set up. This right here is a perfect example of how it's not the equipment which makes great photos, but the person sitting behind the glass. )

If you know the setup of Thomas Shahan this is incredibly true.
He uses an old Canon DSLR, 30yr old Pentax lenses, reversed and an old 20 yr old Vivitar Thyristor flash. He has some of the most amazing macro bug shots I've ever seen.
Your shots remind me a lot of his with the bright colors.
