I could not find another area where I thought this fit better.

I will be in Kansas City, near the airport next week for a class. It is likely that I will have some free time in the evenings and I was considering bringing my camera with me.

Are there any "must shoot" areas within about 30 min of the airport?

While I was there I found there are at least 2 amazing places to shoot. First, there is the National WW1 Museum. Second, is Union Station.

I will either be heading down a couple of days early, or staying a couple of days late to go hit these spots.
