Good tonal control on that white hair bow in the first shot. LOADS of detail in the brightest whites of her outfit too. I know there was an earlier photo of her where the hair bow was totally blown out, but in this one, the bow looks very nice, and we can literally SEE it perfectly, and that fine command over the lighting really helps this shot. In the second shot her little white sundress looks kinda' blue-tinged and overexposed, which makes the dress really draw a lot of attention from her cute little face. The BACKGROUND of shot #2 though is really a great,great example of how to use out of focus scene elements; I LOVE,love,LOVE! that birdhouse!!! And the "bokeh dots" are really,really nice. (This second shot would probably make a gorgeous B&W conversion, using something like Ultimate Fighter or some other type of "Lo-Fidelity" type filter or preset first, then applying maybe a Green filter effect).

Thanks Derrell, I'll try darkening and warming up the dress in #2. Mom prefers colors. But I'll do MY version of BW. If you would like to take a stab at it, please do.
Birdhouse..yep it's a hit, got it in Boone,NC.
Mom loves that big white now....I actually darkened it in Camera raw
