On the contrary, I think it adds to it.

Emphatically NO! One of the biggest mistakes you can make as an artist is not knowing when to stop. In the quest to produce the masterpiece you destroy the art that was already there.

Everyone sees the bible on the seat, but apparently none have seen the Cross in the reflection over the bible on the seat. In composing a shot you have to keep the eyes/mind open.
