Lally Cap for white balance.

Has anyone ever used this product (Lally Cap) before? I got it as a gift, friend of mine bought it at a photo-show and gave me one, but I'm getting mixed results w/ it.
Here's the way I use it (Nikon):
Set the lights, set the exposure, set the camera to manual focusing, press WB-rotate to PRE, press WB again until PRE blinks, take a shot - it says good...
Given the same settings, at times colors look wonderful and at other times not so hot.
Any feedback would be helpful.

WHen do the colors look good, and when do they look not so hot? Any pattern? Is it because the cap will not integrate lighting from multiple sources? IOW, is there any pattern to the badness?

If you're shooting under consistent lighting, you only need to set the WB once. If your lighting changes, then you need to reset it.

Hey sorry, been busy w/ work.
Anyways: for wedding work I use 3 cameras (easier to swap bodies w/ lenses then changing lenses)... so WB isn't really an issue there. Fun started with lens condom when I first tried it out - I got WB set using it and then using standard grey card. Did the shoot and processed images according to both values (TIME consuming process) - results payed of, especially in print - LOVE Lally cap results. Next on-location shoot I was doing, we came to client's house, set up, I take WB reading and the sucker is EXTREMELY cold. Ever since I get 50/50 results using it - sometimes its accurate and others its North Pole. All done using the same camera setting, body, lens, etc.

But exposure isn't an issue, its getting consistent results w/ Lally Cap

Who cares about wb?Just shoot raw, there are enough other things to worry about when shooting.

Lol, so you'd rather spend twice as long setting it in camera? If you're using quality software, setting white balance is quicker and easier in post then it is on the field.

Personally I don't like to waste field time doing things that I can do quicker and more accurately later. But that's just my preference, to each his own.

I don't think 5 seconds is too much time to set a proper WB. That prevents having to do it at all during post.

If it takes one any longer to set it in-camera, they're doing it wrong.

I bought a similar item off eBay for about 2 bucks and it works great...in most situations. If you're shooting in controlled light, this thing will do wonders, but if you're shooting outside, in my experience this gives mixed results.
