Lamborghini shot

Hi all,

I have started to get into photography last month, and have been reading these wonderful forum and other tutorials.
I purchased my first camera last weekend, a Canon Rebel T3.

This shot was at a car meet in Irvine, CA. I used auto mode, no flash for this, as I purchased the camera the night before the shoot.

This photo does have some PP done to it. I would post the original, but I accidentally deleted the whole batch of pics. :blushing:

It's a great picture of a Lambo, just not a very good photograph, which is something at shows like this is very hard to next to impossible to achieve.

You can start with all the people in focus walking around the car.
The background is basically in focus, and it's very busy. Hence, it's distracting to the viewer.
The sky looks blown out.
I would have composed the picture so that the top jof the picture ends about the same height of the girl on the right. Naturally, the girl needs to go as well. Just ask people to move or not move for a min or two.

Work on your composition. This is just another photo of a car. What speficially about that car SINGS to you? Is it the color? The headlights? The sleek lines? Find what specifically made you want to photograph that car and then make that the focal point of your image. It could be the headlight alone and if you compose the image to just include the headlight and not the rest of the car, you could have a really good picture and as Joel W alluded to, a great photograph. Composition composition composition...

Not an expert of automotive photography (well, of any kind of photography, let alone automotive), but I would love to see catchlights. Given that the sky was kind of cloudy and homogeneous, a little off-camera flash (or even on-camera, if off-camera is impossible) would have made it more interesting.

Also, lowering the camera further and shooting from a lower perspective would have made the car look more aggressive and majestic.

It's really just a picture. Could have been shot with a cardboard disposable. Biggest problem is all the people standing around, and unless you are willing to wait for a less busy moment it's tough to get nice uncluttered pictures. Exposure is fine and so is the angle, although as ZapoTex mentioned a lower angle would have alos worked.
