Lancaster-Reading area

Can anyone who lives in the Lancaster Reading are suggest a nice hotel for a single night's stop?
We are traveling through next Monday and I'd like to get away from the normal heavily advertised places.

My preference is to be away from heavy traffic and yet relatively convenient to restaurants, etc.
No B&Bs please, my wife is allergic to talking to strangers at breakfast.

The first that comes to mind is the Abe Lincoln {Wyndham} Hotel. Its right in the heart of downtown Reading on 5th street and within walking distance to many cafes, restaurants etc. There is the Inn at Reading but that's near the Berkshire Mall and in a heavy traffic area [mall traffic as well as major highways]

Reading downtown is not a nice area. I probably wouldn't suggest it. Although, the Abe is a high end hotel with a nice restaurant.
What kind of restaurants are you looking for?

probably vegan/vegetarian would be best but, tbh, my hopes aren't too high for a good v restaurant in Reading.
