Hello Tyler,
No I don't think so it is a Minolta 800si, I do realize that Pentax now owns Minolta and there certainly must be some cross breeding but I am pretty sure mine is before, when Minolta was just Minolta. I love the camera it is so sophisticated, way beyond my personal skill level, although I am anxious to get a lot better.
I am not sure if I mentioned it but my dad was a really terrific photographer, could easily have done it for a living but he worked in printing on the huge camera used for taking pictures of the layout for books. I went with him on various occasions and the strobe lights were like looking at the sun during an eclipse. In any event he would be able to see something, and frame a picture in his mind and get what he was after, his pictures were glorious. Unfortunately I got into photography when I was many years out of his house and didn't really see him that much, in order to pal around and get good ideas. I think it is something innate, I am not sure you can learn how to take the really great pictures it has to be inborn, I am not saying you can't take very good pictures but not the ones that just open your mouth and you say Wow what a great picture. I do see a few of them and one guy who is like 21 takes the greatest pictures, I never met him, but I have seen a lot of his work and marvel at how his framing and composition are just perfect.
I know I will never reach that level but sure wish to get to a level where I look at a picture I have taken and don't want to tear it up.
I hope this winter to sharpen my skills and in the spring when there is more color get some great shots, although my father was color blind and shot the most amazing black and white photos.
Well, sorry for the ramble.
Barry
