My laptop, when it goes into sleepy mode, sometimes reboots itself. Not always, tho. When I open the lid, for example, I'll get the "Windows has unexpectedly restarted, find a solution?" box. No solution exists.

I don't have any auto-updaters on (that I know of), and a google search showed that several people have this problem with Vista on their laptops.

I know the best solution is to get rid of Vista, but that's not practical for me. Has anyone else had this problem or know a solution?

Disable vista's ability to power manage, or turn off, your nic. This is a common fix in a lot of laptops. Make sure your video card driver is up to date. Also, look in your device manager for any driver issues.

If you have automatic updates set to a weird time (when your not around) it will fire itself up, install the updates, and then go back to sleep. But if the update requires a restart it will restart and require you to go through the whole ordeal. Mine did it a few nights ago.
