Laptop With External Moniter

One of my friend ask me to switch between Laptop LCD and external monitor but on that time i was out of an answer and this is how i just get that and here i need to know that how to connect an external monitor with laptop so one can see the output of laptop in an external monitor, does it require any special cable or connectors? Thanks in advance

It depends on the laptop ... some laptops have a VGA output port, RCA video output, SVGA output, or DVI output port. You would need the appropriate cable for any of those.

Usually there is a HotKey (Fn) that can switch to the external monitor output ... or it can be done through the video control panel (if available).
