Largest CD burnable

What is the best cd to burn on that can hold the most raw information and is archival safe?

All optical media has a shelf life. I can't recommend what is the best, but Verbatim has a good reputation. Given that CD's only allow for just under a Gigabyte of Data, they really aren't the best solution. I would consider dual layer DVD burning for more storage. With that said, I personally would use Harddrives (external or internal) as a back-up solution.

or, if you could afford a blu ray burner, then you can store 50gb (dual layer) of photos on a disc.
