I'd give this a 9 out of 10.

Just my opinion, and I dont know what is causing this but the dads head looks small.

Also I get that the view is nice, but I might like this a bit more with the subjects filling more of the frame.

Also, and I dont know if this can be fixed, but the sun shining through the wifes hair is making it look...weird.

Anyway, like I said, I think it is a pretty good shot. I am sure the paying customers are happy, those were just some minor things that I noticed.

I think it's the wide angle of the lens that is causing the distortion in head size. The young man in front is closer so his head looks substantially larger, causing the other gentleman's head to look unnaturally small by comparison. It might have been better to have the people in back lean forward and the people in front lean back to bring their heads closer to the same plane. All the same, it's a cool looking shot with the very dramatic lighting arrangement you have here.

Yeah, maybe I went a little crazy with wider lens. Here is one with longer lens, but the background pretty much disappeared.

2nd one is much better! I would say better to have no background than to have distortion of that type (It is very noticeable, although the family may not notice!). Use that foot zoom, Robin... back up, if you want that background.... ;)

The kid camera left has Huge Feet, and extra long legs too.... due to the distortion!

You did do a nice job on the various skin tones.. and that can be difficult.

Charlie, background that far is not really affected by moving the camera farther or closer. Very minimal.

The background looks pretty nice. So does the light fall on their faces.
I would say try to pose them different in first pic since the dad and big brother are so tall. Second pic composition look much nicer.

now if they could only wear shirts that fit them ;)

Not talking about just the background.... back off enough and use less of a WA.. minimize distortion, and still get the shot you want...
