Leica Digilux 1, any experience?

Just buy the Lumix, same camera, hundreds less in cost.

I have one, but it is a very long time since I used it and I can't remember much about it. The screen shade was rather fragile. It was usable with screw-in filters after you replaced the front trim ring with a tube filter adapter and the image quality was OK for the time. No raw, and the low light capability was very poor by today's standards. I switched to the Digilux 2 as soon as it came out. That is a very nice camera, within its limitations. I was much happier with the image quality.

What is it about the early Digilux that you like? I would have thought that there were better choices.

The Digilux 2 has a Lumix equivalent I think, but not the Digilux 1.

If anyone has used one, I'd appreciate your thoughts.

I think its simplicity appeals to me and the f 2 lens, which has some zoom capability. I've read up a bit about it on the web, and have looked at some pictures taken with it, and for the price it seems quite good. I have to admit that I also like the design, although it will be put to use if I do buy one and not just bought as a toy.

I realise it has no raw but it can take pictures and save them as a TIFF as far as I understand. Have you used this function and is the file big enough to print at 20 x 25 +? I think the jpg file should be okay up to that size: it has 4 MP so that should be enough.
