I am looking at buying a (new to me) Canon 24-105 L, first series. There is a light layer of lubricant on the barrel. None of my other lenses have any lube, but none of my other lenses are L glass.
I'd probably not really worry about it other than, while trying it out, I ended up with a couple of sensor spots that the internal cleaning cycle and a puffer couldn't remove. This is the first time I've had this level of sensor spots with my 70D. I don't know if it is just random chance, or if that lube has somehow found a way to gum up my sensor.
They're asking $450, so it appears to be a good deal. But if it's just going to foul my sensor because of some good faith attempt to maintain the lens, maybe not such a good deal.
Thoughts?
