Lens question from beginner

I recent obtained a Nikon D80 body but no lens. I'm interested in doing portrait and fashion modeling photography. I was wondering if you could give me some recommendations of good lenses up till $1200

I shoot most of my Fashion work with a nikon 70-200 F2.8, that might be a bit out of your budget, I would look st something like This or This

You might be best to save a few bucks more and go for the 70-200 F2.8 One of the best lenses I have worked with

ya i mis-read, why i edited my post, he emailed me and asked for what i said, i replied.

For portrait and fashion modeling photography you're going to want a fast lens. so look for a f1.8 or f2.8 lens. And a 55-100mm would work good. But for portraits, because you are working with someone moving and what now. you want the fastest lens you can get for sharp pictures.

I've got a 18-55mm f3.5-f5.6 and I have a very hard time with getting a fast enough shutter speed under poor lights with a model. I like to use natural lighting.... but still. lol.
