lens shadowing/ framing

hi all..
i just have a question on how this effect can be achieved, and done w/ my 35mm camera.
i have my quess but i really dont know. Im thinking maybe with a lens hood, extension tubes or a step down filter.
please help

Lo-tech solution: Toilet paper tube.

For one, it's called vignetting.

There are a few (non PP) ways to do it. Shooting with the aperture wide open will usually have a little vignetting (not like this though). You could use a hood smaller than the one meant for that lens. Toilet paper tube would work too, lol. A step down ring would do it too.

Then, you could always do it in PP...


Do some googling about vignetting and you should find more. Most people are trying to get rid of it though - so just do the opposite of whatever they say.
