Lense sugestion for Nightclub photography

Hello, im getting i to nightclub photography and purchased a Canon T3i with a standard kitlens (16-55mm) and a flash w/ diffuser (YN560-II). I keep searching youtube for help in choosing a lense and hood and all seem to point to a (24-70mm f2.8) lense but they are expensive for the canon brand. Can anyone suggest an alternitive at a much lower price?

Look into the Sigma 17-50 OS 2.8 as it will have the same field-of-view range on your crop sensor as a 24-70 would on a full-frame camera. Alternatively, if you're looking for a prime lens and/or want very thin DOF capabilities, take a look at the Sigma 35mm 1.4 or their new 30mm 1.4 lens (similar field of view as a 50mm).
