The aptly named - Lesser Yellowlegs at the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge

only got 1 shot of this guy that was usable.

And it is a tad soft as well...seems like the DOF is pretty narrow.

yeah I agree, this was the only marginably workable shot I got of the yellowlegs, but he was the only one I saw all day so I still wanted to share it, just being an interesting bird if nothing else.

it was shot wide open at f6.7 (DOF), and he was cruizing along pretty quick, so I had alot of trouble with the AF hunting on him....

I like it; yeah, might be a tad soft, but I think sandpipers are really tough to shoot anyway. Those things move All. The. Time.

I took some of either a lesser yellowlegs or a greater yellowlegs, not really sure which, this weekend. Nowhere near as good as this though--I never could get even remotely close enough with the 70-300, and stupidly hadn't brought my 1.4x TC with me.

+1, this guy was hauling, I got probably 15 shots of him, probably 9 of them way out of focus (grrr), and 5 of them with either his head our tail out of frame....this was literally the only workable shot of the bunch. hehe
