Photos OK to edit
Saw a lot of people posting their levitation pictures recently so I made one... yea I'm still a beginner so it isn't the best PP but hey I tried!

ENJOY!

This shot made purely by editing? ...like you lay on a bench or something, and edit that out? If not, and you actually did a levitation photo that way, it looks like it could hurt a bit ;) The point of the photos of people "flying" or "levitating" is that they jump - but make it look like they are just floating away. The whole idea is to capture the floating "as shot", and not edit an image to make it look like you are flying by removing things from the shot.

Soft spots along your arms and against the water make me think you cheated a little bit ^^ Correct me if I am wrong :)

Of course it's edited like that lol. Levitation shots are also taken like this 889Media, not just jumping. Truthfully, I find it more respectable to do a shot like this, rather than only jumping.

Personally, i think it's a great first attempt and love the way the upper edge of your body matches the upper edge of the tree line. Really cool detail, if you planned it that way or not lol.

Why would you find it more respectable to do it with editing? I mean sure - either way the look cool. But your saying you have more respect for the people who manipulate/edit their pictures to look like this versus the people who actually create this type of picture without editing.

I think it's neat any way you do it but c'mon editing a picture to make it look like someone is levitating is easy.

But you can do much cooler shots with some trick editing...that and the models hair doesn't get effed.

Just look at yowayowa's website and tell me that jump levitations are not as good.

I like this shot however, it's quite good for a edit levitation. I think jumps are more natural in view, because you are actually levitating, just frozen in time so the levitation does not end.

Making me want to get out and work on more shots. I was going to do some levitation lightpainting this past sunday, but the tunnel we were working in was overrun by crackheads wielding crack pipes and i feared for the safety of our rental equipment. Hopefully this weekend I can manage some more time in process to actually achieve something.

+1 amandalee
I would like to see your try at a jump on this levitation stuff. :)

Yes it was done completely by editing. I was lying on a stool lol.

Nope didn't plan for the treeline thing but awesome! lol

And I would definitely stay away from the crackheads wielding crack pipes! Lol those guys are DANGEROUS! Although...a picture of that would've have been quite fun! Anyway I will definitely try some jump stuff when I get the time! I think it would be fun! Thanks everyone!

Take the following with a grain of salt, but i think I prefer the jumping pics. I haven't really seen many edited levitation shots, so that may be why.

Still, the edit looks good to me, except for some soft edges. :)

I think many people are using the clone tool instead of the clone stamp tool in some cases. The stamp is extremely effective (on even or patterned background).

You could have done a bit better with the shadow. (Just my opinion)

Forget the picutes...I actually was levitiated. In a circus. Laying down with a huge steel ring passing right along my levitating body. My family and friends saw it. I swear to god.

OP, was wearing the same sweater as in your avatar planned? :)

Wait, wait, wouldn't the better and easier way to do it be to take two exposures? It seems like a lot of work to clone and heal stuff out when you can do it seemlessly by taking two shots and painting over the part of the one you don't want to see (if you wish to do it by editing instead of actually jumping/falling).

That's how I'd do it. Tripod and 2 exposures for a composite.
