Lighting/bokeh exercises with MF lenses

That Rokinon 55mm looks like a very nice lens. I have 8 legasy 50 something lenses but not a Rokinon. My fastest is a Minolta 50/1.4 which is also a good performer.

It could be the same as many others in the 55mm size (Porst, Revuenon, etc). I like it too. Heavier than my other fifties, but worth to have in the bag.

If you do not have one, get a Helios 44-2, 58/2 a really sharp lens & so cheap on eBay (under $50). I bought one last spring for 20 something $ & now they are going for about 50% more. They are true gems. Here is a cropped sample:

I have one, because years ago my first (and second too) SLR was a Zenit... :) . The second one brought me a Zenitar 50/1.9, good too.

here one with my Helios, at f/4. I did some attempts wide open, but DoF was minimal; even this one is excessive. Lighting was (badly) provided by a number of neon lamps (the ecological type), so that further attempts with a Mir 37/2.8 went all flare.
