Lighting on a budget... video included. Thoughts?

Hi all. Found this video on YouTube today, thought it was interesting, and quite frankly, inspiring

However, do you think it would work as well as this David Greene guy claims? I mean, from what I can tell, I'm quite sure he's telling the truth, but, who knows.

Anyway, since I'm most passionate about this particular type of photography, I thought that for my budget, which isn't that large, this might would be a great way to go, at least for a while anyway.

I'm hoping that you seasoned verterans might have done this before, as surely... he's not the first to think about it Would like to hear some experiences if possible.
