Thought I would try at some basic portrait lighting.
I am standing with a three lamp ceiling light about two feet in front of me. a desk lamp beamed at me from about eight feet on my left and a bit of very weak window light on my left.
I think it worked out not too bad and realize that the wall decor behind me is a bit naff.

That is a great first lighting portrait.

I would normally recommend only using one light source begin with. practice with one light source, distance to subject, angle from camera, elevation angle, modifiers etc.

Window and overhead lights would not be possible however a lamp could be used in this manner.
