Lightroom catalog took my files? whats going on?

Does anyone have lightroom and can help me, I think its version 1.2.
I recently updated all of my photos because originally I put all of my files in categories, and when I got lightroom I didn't convert them to dates. I then had all of my files put into dates by year and month and day last week. I loaded the program today, and gone were my most recent files of February 2008, just gone from the catalog, and I have no idea why. I then started a new catalog added all the files, and it would not add the February folder for some reason. I then added the files to the original catalog and it worked, but I've lost all my editing within the program, this is frustrating, I'm not going to keep using this program if it keeps stuffing up.

Im not really sure but have you tried to open the catalog? File>Open.
1.3 is the up to date version as well btw.
