Can others edit my Photos
Photos NOT OK to edit
Hey all!
So I'm new to Adobe Lightroom and I'm completely lost. I have several questions but I am going to ask the most important one first.....Where is the most effective place to go to learn the basics about Lightroom? I first discovered Lightroom in desperate search of the "light and airy" style photos. I am obsessed with the effect. I love the creamy colors and airy lighting. I watched a few YouTube videos in hopes to learn a few things but I still feel clueless. However, I did notice the "presets" everyone are talking about have to be downloaded. Where do you guys go to get your presets? Where is the best place to get the "light and airy" preset? If there are any free ones, that would be preferred. All advice/suggestions/comments are welcome. Thank you!! :)

Please replace the photo with a link to it, if it isn't yours. We don't want you or TPF getting in trouble for posting copyrighted photos.

Other than you tube, there are a number of blogs, podcasts and online tutorials. Adobe has a few things, as well. There are also a lot of books on the subject, some of which may be in your public library. I took a class in college, which gave me some basics but I am still learning.

I don't use any presets, but should look at them. There are a few things that I do to almost every photo, so there may be something out there I can use.

Thank you SO much! I had no idea, thanks for the heads up. I just figured choosing a photo with the photographers logo showing ownership, it would be acceptable.

I suggest that you just jump in and start fiddling. You can use someone else's presets, but without knowing what their adjustments were, or the reasons for them, you will forever be a slave to someone else's editing style.

Use presets all the time, both those that I've created/saved, and downloaded. The nice thing about presets in LR is that you can change/fine tune any setting. So many times it will save a few mins work as they will get me close to the look I want. Also, presets are a great learning tool, making it easy to view the sliders to see what was changed. Do a google search for Free LR Presets, and you'll get a lot of hits. Be aware that a lot of the free sites will want you furnish an email as a condition (guaranteed to spam you to death). Don't forget to save your own presets as you develop them also
