I am still very much a newbie to Lightroom (I have Lightroom 3.6) and I have a question about the presets. I've noticed that when I load a RAW file into lightroom, it sets the contrast and brightness, etc. I've done some poking around, as well as some reading, to try to figure out why it does this but I haven't been able to get a definitive answer. I'd like everything to be zeroed out when I get to it. I feel like I must be missing something, such as a preset when I do the importing. Here's a picture that hopefully will show you what I mean:

Hopefully it's big enough.

I have the presets set to (none), develop settings set to none, so I'm not sure what's up with that. I have one master catalog as I still haven't figured out the whole catalog thing either (although I am getting there), so everything gets loaded into the same place.

Any ideas?

You can double click the little triangle in each slider to zero it.
Once you have set them all to zero - Press and hold the Alt/Option key, and note that the Reset button is now Set Default... Press it.

I highly recommend getting a copy of - The Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3 Book: The Complete Guide for Photographers

The book details each of Lighroom's modules, features, functions, and capabilities.

Thank you!! I will definitely look into that book. It all seems complicated to learn, but I have to start somewhere.
