Flipping it makes it look like a proper flag. The original is more unsettling because you want it flipped to the right.

Yes. I read somewhere long ago that claimed lines rising to the right are more "positive". So do you have a preference for either way? I'm not sure it makes any difference.

I prefer the original; the flipped version lacks a certain tension and is too ordinary somehow. Although I like both, I would only hang the first one on a wall.

I like that it has a certain mystery about what it actually is (a light fixture?). I might consider a crop where the dark bands cossing the subject are perfectly symmetrical with the corners. Also it seems there is a bit of a very slightly lighter colored blob below the subject. Definitely intriguing
