I was curious, if I went to a random local YMCA baseball game and shot the kids and then handed out a web address to the pics for parents to print. (As a way to get my name out there.) Would I need to get model release forms signed?

You should/can not just walk off the street and do that for two reasons. Well maybe you can get away with it. You should ask league. First most youth sport leagues are privet organizations. Copyright also applies to the redistribute of like a events. The leagues may clam this right (bit of a gray area). Second there is the petafile issue each league should have it own rules that deal with volunteers and vendors work around the youth.

if you are only selling to the parents you should not need a model release, the issue would be other youth also in the shot

talk with the league
