Little Red Riding Hood exterior portrait

Hi all, here I am again with another try of environmental portrait, this time I tried Little Red Riding Hood like style portrait in the forrest.
Idea was to make forrest look dar and mysterious and use flash in softbox to lighten up subject.

Somehow it didn't come out as dark forest, what could be done differently? wrong time of the day? Wrong flash settings? I am sending three images from the serie and thanks you for your tips.

Always enjoy your enthusiasm! For now, I think #3 is closest to what you were after. What's hurting you is high contrast--the enemy of the mood you want. A bit of gloom, apprehension, moody lighting is what could work here. An overcast/cloudy day? Dial-in a bit of negative exposure comp? Cut down on the "woods," too. I'll message a couple sites that might supply a few ideas.

Agree with cgw. Number three is very nice. I like the backlighting coming through the fabric. Well done, imho.
