Live-aboard Oil Barge on the Irriwady River

There seems to be no oil pipelines in Myanmar and the roads or railroads certainly couldn't handle tanker traffic so oil is brought upstream from the coast in oil barges. Families live aboard these barges and, at this main destination in Mandalay, crews of men drag hoses 100 yards or more across the sand and the oil is pumped into tank trucks and even ordinary trucks loaded with barrels.
