Local Ducks and Geese

What type of duck is this exactly? there are a couple at the local pond near where I work and I don't know what they are exactly.

Boy are they ugly! Still nice shots, particularly the second and fourth ones. The first one you probably will want to up the shutter speed to capture the wings flapping, rather than have them blurred. Not sure what camera you used, but I find that a shutter speed of at least 1/1000 second will usually stop this type of action. The third one has a bit of a distracting background. I would have placed the duck more to the left, following the rule of thirds, and maybe tried to hide some of the background birds (Canada Geese?) behind the duck. For the fourth one, I would have placed the duck's head a bit more off centre to the right, so it is looking into the negative space on the left side of the frame.

Oh they're not too bad ;) thanks for the help!

I like the water drop on the beak in the second. Nice!

I would have to concur with Western Guy, they are ugly.
1. For me isn't all that great. I don't mind the action of the wings but, it's taking off in a uninteresting direction. I know that isn't always something we can control. ;)
2. &4. I like both of them. They have really nice detail and I don't mind the composition of them.
3. I like it but, I would have preferred to have the opened space in front of the bird as opposed to behind. It would make the image more appealing for me and much less constricting.
Thanks for sharing.
