I was planning a wee visit round Crianlarich this summer but it looks like work will get in the way (again).

Stunning scenery captured well.

Any chance of seeing the colour version?

I'd like to see a little more contrast in the sky but other than that I really like it. Beautiful shot.

Envisioned as B&W and so I approached as I would've done with B&W film, so I was really looking at a shot that converted well to B&W not one that looked good in colour. Shot in low winter sun so the orange tint to the light on the trees allows you choices in filtration to enhance the separation of values especially on the silver birch trees (something that's lost in colour). I really wanted to bring these out and maintain the impression of light across the loch. Also there was some haze so the mountain is a little blue.

The problem is that it is the relative difference in contrast that defines the sunlit areas. You see them as sunlit precisely because they are different to the shadow and overcast areas. If you make them similar contrast then they will look similar and you very much remove the impression of sunlight. You would also loose the separation on the tree line.
But I'm giving it a go as I have that layer dialled in by opacity so it's easy to adjust. I'll see how I feel after I've viewed it a while.
