I was out on the flight deck of a ship taking pictures of the sunset and talking with some of the guys i was with and I noticed this dude at the aft with sound powered mic on. I took a couple pics and this is I think the best one I took. It's by no means great, but I just thought even with some issues it shoes the loneliness that comes with being in the middle of the ocean. Let me know what you think, and how I could have done better.

Since you are on a ship, you were probably pressed for space. I think it's a good shot, yet there is this weird shape that you convay that makes this picture most intriguing after all. The painted strip at the far right creates an arc over through the left, even appearing to pass under the man, though it actually does not. Also, this picture seems to be edged specifically by and most importantly by the stump immediately behind the man (on the ground). Then there are the two tall poles on the right that do th same thing, Very Neat. This actually makes the picture only specific to that effect and the quarter oval shape, and thus the man looks meaningless. Excellent job. However, it does not look like you composed this picture on your own then. I hope you caught all this before you posted this B&W. Therefore, because of it's mathematics all around, how can there be any isssues with this? That's really all I have to say, buddy. Thanks, good luck!

Just as good measure, I would have to say you could have captured that sky a little more by cutting off some ground (simply because of those two 'tall poles).

Did you just come about prior to this shot being taken or is it an optical illusion of the wake?

Its a peaceful image, I really like it. Shows the human side of the service industry, at least to me.
